How to Make Your Bike Data Count
(Co-hosted by the League of American Bicyclists and Eco-Counter)
Tuesday, July 20, 2021
For Bicycle Friendly Communities and bike advocacy groups, the importance of collecting bike data is often well known. From manual counts to surveys, bike parking data to automated counts, bike data is more available than ever. Analyzing, organizing and communicating that data for meaningful change, however, remains challenging and under-discussed.
What are the best-practices for collecting, analyzing and communicating bike data? How can advocates get the most out of a little bit of data? How can manual bike counts be leveraged in a community to support change? During this free one-hour webinar, hear from bike data experts and the winners of this year’s Bikes Count data competition on all things bike data.

During this webinar – co-hosted by the League of American Bicyclists and Eco-Counter – hear from leading industry experts, advocates and practitioners about ways in which bike data can be leveraged to make communities more bicycle friendly.
Designing Better Micromobility Footprints: Overcoming new challenges in creating bicycle-friendly campuses and communities
(Co-hosted by the League of American Bicyclists and Ground Control Systems)
January 29, 2020
What does creating the Micromobility narrative look like? Today’s world is complex and difficult; there are so many vehicles to choose from in the transportation space (push-pedal bikes, e-bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc.). How do you control the footprint? This is a challenge we have never faced before and the tools available for planning have never been so robust (BIM, Revit, 2D/3D Autocad, etc.). For university campuses and surrounding communities, this means having to create, design & implement transportation programs. These programs need to educate & encourage active ridership while making infrastructure improvements, providing enforcement, and creating continual planning. By tackling specific challenges, UC Davis, University of Kentucky, and Michigan State University have created a safer and more effective Micromobility Footprint and have fostered health and wellness for their communities.
Bike Shops: Going Above and Beyond with the Bicycle Friendly Business Program (Hosted by NBDA/National Bicycle Dealers Association)
October 29, 2019
Of course every bike shop is friendly to bikes, but what does it take for a local bike shop to become certified as a Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) by the League of American Bicyclists? Why would a customer choose a bike shop with a BFB designation, and what's the difference between a shop that earns Bronze-level BFB status and Platinum status? The BFB program can help your shop build a network of bike educators and advocates for bicycling, reach more customers, spread more bike joy, and advocate for better bicycling in your community. Over the last 11 years, the League’s BFB program has helped over 300 local bike shops across the country go above and beyond the standard "bikes are our business" model and become the heart of growing and empowering their local bicycling community. Please join us to learn how the BFB program has worked for others and what it can do for your employees, your customers, and your community.
Fostering Civic Engagement: Volunteers and Advocates Building Robust Communities (Hosted by Healthy Americas Institute)
October 10, 2019
In a thriving community, residents play an active role in civic life. Through civic engagement such as volunteering, collecting data to inform policymakers, being an advocate in schools, or talking to neighbors about registering to vote, residents improve health and well-being for all. But achieving robust participation in civic life requires support and access to tools, a willingness on the part of community institutions to invite and listen to residents, and role models that inspire. This webinar will provide examples of successfully fostering civic engagement in Hispanic communities along with tools, resources, and hopefully a good dose of inspiration.
Collecting and Applying Bike Data: Current and Future Trends
September 25, 2019
As data plays an increasingly important role in the way in which we plan our cities, data on cycling trends and behaviors is becoming increasingly prevalent and accessible. Automated cyclist counts, GPS tracking, and crash statistics are just a few examples. But how can these types of data be meaningfully used? During this webinar co-hosted by the League of American Bicyclists and Eco-Counter both practitioners and advocates will share insights into how cycling data can contribute to evidence-based planning decisions and make communities more bicycle friendly.
