The mental and physical health of employees improves when commuting by bicycle is made easy and accessible. Overall impact to the environment is improved by taking cars off the road for commuters.
The most positive outcome of our company’s support for bicycling has been a community of employees who encourage each other in their bicycling efforts resulting in an increase in people who bike to work and bike on our trail at lunch.
Supporting our cycling community is a natural result of the firm’s belief that healthy and happy employees are key to successful business. We are also invested in the community where we live and/or work. Seeing Nashville flourish and become more and more bike friendly is both a result of our transportation work and a benefit to everyone who lives here.
The biking community at AIR has been able to find support with each other, to share resources and information and to advocate for additional resources. We have normalized alternative commuting, where before there were barriers for many people.
In honor of National Bike to Work Week this week, we’ll be sharing our favorite responses from Bicycle Friendly Businesses describing the most positive outcome of their company’s support for bicycling.
Today, as part of National Bike Month, the League of American Bicyclists welcomes 114 new and renewing businesses from 30 states and Washington, DC, to its Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) program.
National Bike Month is coming up in May, and we want to help your business get ready to celebrate! Bike Month is a great time to support your existing bike commuters and to help new bicyclists try bike commuting for the first time.

Oceano Elementary School was honored this year as the only school designated as a Gold level Bicycle Friendly Business in the United States. The League asked us to share some stories on why we received this important recognition.
We welcome 58 new and renewing Bicycle Friendly Businesses (BFB). Since 2008, over 1,400 businesses have earned the title; currently there are 1,118 businesses that hold a BFB designation.
