This week marked the mid-point of the 2013 National Bike Challenge and the Gainesville Cycling Club, has a tight grip on the #1 national team ranking, having racked up 265,000 points. But they’re keeping their eye on the prize: “Complacency isn’t an option.”
This year doesn’t just mark the 100th year of the Tour de France — it also heralds a strong call for equity and participation for female racers. Today’s Women Bike Wednesday post comes from Whitney Schultz, a racer for Colavita-Fine Cooking Pro Women’s Cycling in Fort Collins, who shares what’s going on internationally, in her community — and the challenges of organizing a women’s pro cycling event.
Join the League in supporting an equitable and accessible transportation system for all. The Americans with Disabilities Act turns 23 on July 26th. In celebration of the anniversary, the League is supporting the National Disability Rights Network campaign to push Amtrak to meet ADA guidelines to create safe and complete stations.
Thanks to YOU, we’ve already blazed past our 2012 ridership number and are well on our way to achieving both of our 2013 goals for the National Bike Challenge — and we’re only halfway through this year’s event!
