The U.S. Department of Transportation has taken important steps to address vulnerable road user safety such as adopting the Safe System Approach. But one agency with a large influence – the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – lags behind in incorporating bicyclists’ safety into its work on the ‘safer vehicles’ aspect of a Safe System Approach. The League of American Bicyclists wants your help in pushing NHTSA to include bicyclists safety when considering new car standards and reducing crashes, fatalities and injuries.
