Shelby Ottengheime

Roger Herz Memorial Federal Policy Fellow, (she/her)

Shelby is the Roger Herz Memorial Federal Policy Fellow and assists Deputy Executive Director Caron Whitaker with all legislative and policy issues. As a trained archaeologist, who has conducted fieldwork in both the US and abroad, Shelby is well-versed in navigating diverse community associations and compliance laws on environmental and cultural protection. Such skills help her immensely with her role at the League!

In addition to her work in the field, during her time as an undergraduate at Pitzer College, she not only engaged in local political issues regarding safe streets, but was also co-president of the Green Bike Program, an entirely student-run bike shop. Her passion for community engagement, advocacy, and environmental sustainability are what brought her to the League!

As a born and raised Southern Californian, Shelby loves the sunshine and seeks it out whenever possible. You can often find her outside riding her beloved bike, running new trails or searching for the right, sunny rock to read or paint on.
