Marlee Townsend
Communications Specialist, (she/her/they/them)
As part of the League’s communications team, Marlee helps craft and coordinate content that connects people to our mission and fuels the movement for better biking. Before joining in 2023, she worked with nonprofits across the country as a freelance digital media specialist, using storytelling to spark change.
Marlee brings a background rooted in cycling and social justice, from leading communications at QC Bike Collective—a community bike co-op in Manchester, NH—to writing on global human rights issues for the Institute of Human Rights in Birmingham, Alabama. These experiences have shaped Marlee’s passion to make cycling more equitable, accessible, and joyful for everyone.
Raised among the creeks and forests of Alabama, Marlee is powered by a deep love for nature and community. Off the clock, she’s probably out exploring a new trail, reading something weird and wonderful, or teaching her dog Maple increasingly elaborate tricks.
