MORE DETAILS
The workshop is conducted in person over three days. The first day begins in the late afternoon to accommodate same-day travel and consists of an evening happy hour and group ride. The second day includes a full day of training, followed by a group ride and happy hour. The third day wraps up with a half-day of training, allowing attendees to travel home that afternoon.
The workshop will cover essential advocacy basics such as the history of bike advocacy, how to get organized, effective political engagement, making the case, coalition building, policy basics, funding, storytelling, equity and mobility justice, and more. The content of the workshop will involve group work, happy hours, bike rides, as well as individual self-guided pre-readings which will be provided to all participants ahead of the workshop.
By the end of the workshop and accompanying readings, attendees will be equipped with the tools and training to implement the ideas, strategies, and practical applications in your communities that build the bike movement at the local level.
