$100,000 for Your 2014 Funding Campaigns

This blog is cross-posted from the Advocacy Advance site, and was written by Christy Kwan, Advocacy Advance Outreach Coordinator for the Alliance for Biking & Walking.

Thanks to generous support from SRAM Cycling Fund, Advocacy Advance will award $100,000 total in Rapid Response Grants in 2014. Rapid Response Grants help state and local advocacy organizations take advantage of unexpected opportunities to win, increase, or preserve public funding for biking and walking.

Since 2011, Rapid Response Grants have supported organizations that have leveraged more than $100 million in public funding for biking and walking around the United States – a return of over $1,300 per $1 awarded.

“We appreciative the great job advocates are doing all across the U.S., with very limited resources,” says Stan Day, President of SRAM. “SRAM is thrilled to provide extra Rapid Response grants in 2014.  We’re confident the funds will be expertly used.”

The investment of Rapid Response Grants over the past 3 years has moved the needle to win public funding in communities across the country. With $100,000 to award in 2014 alone, Advocacy Advance is excited to support a record number of organizations to carry out, share, and replicate successful funding campaigns.

Rapid Response Grants are for short-term campaigns that will increase or preserve investments in active transportation in communities where program choices are being made on how to spend federal, state, and local funding. Past grantees have successfully convinced state transportation boards to fully fund the Transportation Alternatives Program; restore dedicated bicycle and pedestrian funds in the state budget; mobilized citizens to vote for transportation ballot measures; and organized local districts to support bicycle and pedestrian projects in the city participatory budgeting process.

More information on Rapid Response Grants, including a detailed grant outline and proposal form, as well as success stories from past grantees, are available at www.AdvocacyAdvance/grants. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
