As we prepare for the 2014 National Bike Summit, we’ve reached out to our generous sponsors to ask: What speaks to you about bicycling? What excites you about the Summit? Here, we hear from Mike Blang, National Sales Manager for Saris Cycling Group. 

I have loved the bicycle since the first day I rode one as a kid.  I rode everywhere and enjoyed the freedom that I gained from the bike!  To school, to friend’s houses, to games, everywhere.  I want the same for my kids and my kids’ kids!  One of the things I am amazed about as a travel throughout the country and experience the bike in different settings is the wide reach that the bike has.  I am fortunate to see a wide range of cyclists – commuters, recreationalists and competitors, but there is so much common ground among them.  The benefits to the cyclist (old and young), to the non-cyclist and to the community at large are impressive and consistent.  This excites me about the future of what the bike can do to our country.

I am excited about the Summit as it will be my first National Bike Summit. Wisconsin is always really well represented, and I’m looking to learn best practices from other areas and excited to meet individuals sharing my passion for the bicycle!
