The League of American Bicyclists Board of Directors elected new officers at its board meeting last weekend in Rockwall, TX. Ralph Monti was unanimously chosen for the position of Board Chair. “I am truly honored to be serving this great organization as Chair of the Board of Directors,” Monti said. “I am very happy to serve with my fellow board members to strengthen the League and its effectiveness in accomplishing our mission.” Other board members elected to the League’s Executive Committee included Ken Podziba as Vice-Chair, Harry Brull as Secretary and Nicole Preston for the At-Large position.
Outgoing Chair Karen Jenkins was also honored as Director Emeritus by the board. “It has been a privilege to serve as the chair of the Board of Directors of the League of American Bicyclists during this exciting time in its history. I was very humbled to be entrusted with leading the board of an organization that was founded in 1880 and working on issues of social justice and equity. During my tenure, I collaborated with dedicated board members, knowledgeable staff and committed members all across the United States and abroad. I was especially grateful for the friendship and support of Gail Copus Spann, who served with me as Vice-Chair and previously as Chair.”
Longtime League staff member Bill Nesper has been appointed as Executive Director by the League Board of Directors after serving successfully for eight months as Interim Executive Director. “I am excited to be given this opportunity to continue to serve the League’s members and mission. With our excellent staff, board and network of changemakers nationwide, we are leading the movement to create a Bicycle Friendly America for everyone,” said Bill.
