angela olson

Minneapolis, MN

unnamed (59)

angela (who prefers a lowercase styling of her name) grew up in a small town in east central Minnesota, where biking was the best way to get around or go “into town.” When she started biking as her main mode of transportation at 16, angela’s grandpa gifted her his 1970 yellow Schwinn that had been collecting dust in the shed. Since then, she has traveled by bike, foot, and transit all over the country.

angela has been an educator for over 20 years, teaching at various nonprofits in Minneapolis, New York, and Chicago. When working as a mechanic or service writer, she most loved teaching folks new things about their bicycle — ways to maintain their machine, solve problems, and get around from their own power. She has worked with brand-new riders to experienced racers, and feels passionately that everybody deserves to get around safely and confidently.

angela currently works as the Deputy Director at the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota, where she supports their educational and advocacy efforts across the state. From teaching adults to riding with youth, she says, “I love the opportunity to share the knowledge and joy for biking, walking, and rolling. I’m a year-round e-bike rider, fascinated with adaptive bikes and equipment, and am thrilled when I learn a new biking skill or practice I can share with my community.” angela lives in south Minneapolis with her dog and guinea pig.
