Danielle Arigoni is an urban planner and community resilience expert. She was appointed in September 2024 as Director of Environmental Justice, Community Health, and Environmental Review for EPA Region 8 to bring more equitable approaches to improve the environment and public health. She is author of Climate Resilience for an Aging Nation (Island Press, October 2023) which explores the impacts of climate change on a rapidly growing demographic – people over 65 – and the need for community-scale solutions to reduce risk for all.

Prior to her current role, she served as Managing Director for Policy and Solutions at National Housing Trust to promote more resilient investments in America’s affordable housing stock. She also served as AARP’s Director of Livable Communities and Director of HUD’s Office of Economic Resilience. Over her 25-year career, she has played a leadership role in several innovative national efforts, including HUD’s $1 billion National Disaster Resilience Competition, and most recently EPA’s implementation of $140 million in Inflation Reduction Act investments to promote climate justice and equity in Region 8. 

Danielle holds a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in Planning from University of Oregon. She serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the League of American Bicyclists.  She is a frequent presenter, writer, and contributor to interviews and podcasts on the topics of climate resilience, aging, and community health.
