Your 2025 Board of Directors Candidates

Update August 25, 2025: Congratulations to Anna, Dan, and DevahD on being elected to the League’s Board! Our thanks to Jim for his years of service on the Board and in support of the League!

Our Board of Directors is powered by a dedicated team of volunteers, united by a shared commitment to building a Bicycle Friendly America for Everyone. These individuals generously contribute their time, diverse skills, and invaluable knowledge to propel the League’s mission forward.

We are thrilled to introduce the four exceptional candidates, approved by the League Governance Committee, who answered our call to run and are now running in this year’s Board election for three seats. (Learn more about the process to run for the Board here.) Their bios, supplied by the candidates themselves, offer unique insights into their vision and commitment.

League members vote in our Board elections and all current members will receive a ballot in their email on record with our Membership Team.

To vote, your membership must be active by August 4, 2025, at 11:59pm ET.

Voting will take place August 5-19, 2025.

Anna Zivarts

Anna Zivarts is a visually impaired parent and author of When Driving Is Not an Option: Steering Away from Car Dependency (Island Press, 2024). Joining the team at Disability Rights Washington in 2018, Zivarts launched the Week Without Driving to address the needs of nondrivers in planning accessible communities. Anna lives in Seattle and bikes for transportation. Lately, she’s been working on mastering the art of commuting with her 8-year old on the bike bungee tow rope, because Seattle is too hilly and the kid is getting too heavy for the tag along.

Dan Langenkamp

Dan Langenkamp is a life-long cyclist and a Foreign Service Officer with the State Department. In August 2022, his wife, Sarah, was killed while bicycling home from their sons’ elementary school just weeks after their family had been evacuated to the United States from Ukraine.

Since Sarah’s death, Dan has campaigned for increased street street safety in Maryland and nationally, donating more than $300,000 to bicycle and street safety organizations, passing a law named after Sarah in Maryland, and advocating for a separate law in the U.S. Congress that would make it easier for States to use federal funds to build biking and walking infrastructure. He has also organized several Ride for Your Life bicycling events, bringing thousands of cyclists together for rides seeking legislative changes to enhance roadway safety. A specialist in media and public affairs who has worked on four continents, he is retiring from the State Department after his 22-year diplomatic career in September. He and his two boys live in Bethesda, Maryland.

Diana ‘DevahD’ Hildebrand

Diana Hildebrand, affectionately known as DevahD, is a dynamic force in the cycling world, with a career rooted in education and community empowerment. As the founder of DevahD Cycling since 2018, she champions the mission of “changing lives two wheels at a time” by making cycling fun, educational, and accessible to all. Her work has been pivotal in shaping an inclusive and welcoming cycling culture across Ohio and beyond.

In her role as Education & Outreach Manager at Bike Cleveland since 2022, Diana continues to elevate cycling education and engagement. A League Cycling Instructor (LCI) since 2019 and now a League Cycling Coach (LCC), she brings expertise, mentorship, and passion to every aspect of her work. She also serves as a proud Shero for the Cleveland chapter of Black Girls Do Bike, where she uplifts and inspires women of color in the cycling community.

Diana’s impact has earned national recognition, including being named the 2024 Gail & Jim Spann National Educator of the Year at the National Bike Summit. Her accolades also include the 2024 City of Cleveland Certificate of Congratulations and the honor of 2024 Hidden Philanthropist.

A true trailblazer, Diana continues to ride at the forefront of cycling advocacy—breaking barriers, building community, and changing lives every pedal of the way.
