Welcome to our new website!

At the National Bike Summit in March, we revealed the new face of the League — a more modern, sophisticated and forward-moving branding that draws on our storied history and propels us to a brighter future for biking. A few weeks later, members started receiving our redesigned magazine, with more vibrant content, creative visuals and even a centerfold infographic. Next, we rolled out a fresh take on our National Bike Month Guide and resources, and, before the end of May, released an equity report that showed in content and layout that the League is stepping up to change the face of bicycling.

Now, you’ll be able to find all that — and more — on our upgraded and entirely redesigned website!

So what’s different?

First of all, we worked with the brilliant designers at Language Dept. on a beautiful layout and page structure for the site. With pictures in the headers and slideshows on many pages, we’re able to display and celebrate the sheer joy and energy of riding a bike — and the impact our programs have in making biking better.

Next, we spent hours (many hours!) thinking about how to make the site more user friendly, so folks who are new to the League (maybe new to riding a bike!) can clearly understand what we do and also so long-time LCIs and members can still easily find the information they rely on. As you’ll see, the main navigation bar on the left includes all the pages you’ll find on the site — so you can clearly see and click to where you want to go. For folks who are used to previous League headers, please note that “Ride Smart” contains all the Education / Smart Cycling infomation, while “Making Biking Better” is our new header for all things Advocacy, including reports and Women Bike!

But this website is more than a reorganization of (and facelift for) our previous content. We have plenty of new, exciting offerings on this website.

Features to Check out:

  • NEW AWARDS DATABASE: The new *interactive* Bicycle Friendly America awards database, where you can see Bicycle Friendly Communities, Businesses and Universities in your area. But the search function doesn’t stop at the state level: Use the filters to find BFCs of a certain population size, or sort BFBs by industry and number of employees.
  • NEW INTERACTIVE BFA ASSESSMENT: Another BFA addition is on online Quick Assessment. Answer yes or no on the form and you’ll find out, with the click of your mouse, how your community, business or university is prepared to apply for bicycle-friendly status.
  • NEW VIDEO LIBRARY: Another HUGE addition is in our Ride Smart section. After many months of planning and shooting, the League is debuting a full suite of updated, modern, professionally filmed and edited education videos. You’ll hear much more about these in coming weeks, but be the first to check them out here.
  • NEW CONNECT LOCALLY SEARCH: And we’re making it easier to find fellow riders and bicycle-friendly amenities in your community. Just enter your city or zip code in the “Connect Locally” search bar on the left of the page and you’ll find bike shops and riding clubs right in your backyard!

Of course, moving the vast amount of content and programming you’ve come to rely on from the League isn’t a simple task. We’re still ironing out some of the kinks, so let us know if you find something amiss. Contact Liz Murphy at [email protected] with any observations or corrections!

Enjoy!
