Bicycling and Walking in the United States: 2018 Benchmarking Report
The 2018 Benchmarking Report on Bicycling and Walking is the sixth edition and the first edition published by the League of American Bicyclists. It is intended to update the data and analyses found in the five previous versions published in 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016. The 2018 Benchmarking Report follows the format adopted by the Alliance for the 2016 Benchmarking Report and includes all cities that have been included in the Benchmarking Report since 2014.
What the 2018 Benchmarking Report shows is there is a public health crisis facing America due to bicyclist and pedestrian deaths and physical inacivity. With continued advocacy and leadership at the federal, state, and local levels to address this urgent crisis, we can build a more Bicycle Friendly America in which more people feel encouraged and safer biking or walking.

The 2018 Benchmarking Report continues the tradition began by the initial Benchmarking Report which highlighted available national data on bicycling and walking and used surveys distributed through Thunderhead Alliance member organizations to collect information on issues such as state and city policies, funding sources, and education efforts that was not otherwise available.
