Bicycling Under Attack in Missouri

UPDATE: The anti-bike amendment to the state’s transportation bill was defeated on the house of the Missouri floor on Tuesday afternoon. More from the MoBikeFed here.

Bicycling is under attack in Missouri’s State House of Representatives, and the Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation has launched a campaign to beat back the anti-bike bill.

From the MoBikeFed: “The bicycle ban is back — new and improved for 2014. And it is accompanied by something new — a proposal to eliminate bicycling from the $8 billion Missouri Transportation Funding proposal.”

If you live in Missouri, you can take action now by letting your state lawmaker know that you support bicycling. Take Action!

Read more about the bill and what you can do to help from the MoBikeFed:

This week a Missouri representative introduced a Bicycle Ban bill.  Another representative proposed an amendment to eliminate bicycling from the $8 billion Missouri Transportation Funding proposal.

With your help, we can stop both.

A key vote will be held Monday or Tuesday, so we need you to act now!

Please be polite and persuasive when you call or email–we need friends in the Missouri House on these issues!

And please consider attending our annual Capitol Day Monday April 7th and talk personally with your legislators about this issue. That personal contact makes a huge difference.

HELP US START A TWITTERSTORM AND SOCIAL MEDIA BROUHAHA

Help us spread the word on social media that Missouri bicyclists are not happy about this treatment.  We expect and demand better from our representatives.  Legislators are tuned into this.
