Enforcement: Denver puts emergency medical technicians on bicycles as well as police officers. The Police Department also has a bicycle recovery unit with free bicycle registration, including online at www.denvergov.org/BikeRegistration.asp. The city has an on-going provision of city standard inverted U type bicycle parking racks as a zoning requirement for land development with information available on the city’s website. Engineering: Denver has a heritage and culture of providing bicycle facilities that set it apart from other, comparably sized, metropolitan cities. Denver has been continually expanding its trail system, including new regional trails such as Sand Creek. During the past 12 years a number of trails have been reconstructed to provide enhanced access, reduced user conflict, improved geometry and pavement quality and even lighting.
